Brazilian music superstar and philanthropist Alok, known for chart-topping tracks such as “Don’t Say Goodbye” featuring Tove Lo, his award-winning remix of MEDUZA’s “Piece of Your Heart,” and most recently, “Over Again” with Solardo, has returned with the new club single “Mami Mami.”
In the high energy Summer track, the recently recrowned most-listened-to Brazilian artist in the world on Spotify samples an iconic song from the 2000s, and its available now on all DSPs and streaming services HERE with an official music video.
Alok’s latest single “Mami Mami” is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sampling Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake’s 2007 hit, “Give It To Me.” Alok adds his own personal touch to the track, creating a unique blend of old and new, using edm synths and snares to add a new dimension to the single. The single’s official music video is inspired by Christopher Nolan’s 2000 American neo-noir psychological thriller Memento with its nonlinear narrative as it follows a beautiful model through the streets of Europe during an eventfufl night of clubbing.
“Mami Mami” is Brazilian superstar Alok’s second dancefloor-focused track to come out in just two weeks, following his club single, “Over Again” with UK duo Solardo. These two singles are kicking off a series of club-inspired tracks that Alok will be releasing every two weeks before dropping a new project, titled ‘Alok Club Series 2023.’
Of the upcoming project and “Give It To Me,” Alok said, “Each song is unique and inspiration can come from different sources. With ‘Give It to Me,’ for example, the original song was a huge hit among music lovers all around the world and I wanted to bring back its essence and energy in a new modernized version, dedicated to the clubs and dancefloors.”
2023 started with the disco-inspired house track “Work With My Love” with multi platinum singer/songwriter James Arthur, which featured the sample used in The Shapeshifters’ 2004 hit “Lola’s Theme.” This came following a slew of commercial releases to cap a highly successful 2022, which was highlighted by Alok being crowned No. 1 DJ in Latin America and No. 4 in the world by DJ Mag and the launch of his “The Future Is Ancestral” philanthropic event series. The remarkable inaugural event brought his climate change initiatives and partnership to the United Nations’ Global Compact and helped kickoff New York’s Climate Change Week with a series of panels and a historic, first-ever performance on the rooftop of the United Nations headquarters.
Alok’s musical successes in 2022 were also unmatched, with “Deep Down” staying at #1 on Billboard’s Dance charts for weeks while his dance pop anthem “All By Myself” with Ellie Goulding and Sigala flooded radio waves around the world. With a remarkable 70 million social media followers, the music producer and philanthropist continues to build on his legendary catalog, which already includes global hit singles like “Hear Me Now” and his chart topping remix of MEDUZA’s “Piece of Your Heart,” for which he won “Best Remix” at the 2020 International Dance Music Awards.
