A star act within the Anjuna label family (an A&R hotbed that is home to stars such as Ben Böhmer, Yotto, and Mat Zo), Andrew Bayer has released multiple critically acclaimed LPs, earned 2 Grammy nominations for his work with dance music icons Above & Beyond and played major festivals around the world from Creamfields, Electric Zoo and Electric Daisy Carnival.

His genre-bending music has encompassed everything from atmospheric downtempo and Anjunadeep-released deep house to jagged glitchy electro and his trademark cutting-edge anthemic trance. Drawing influence from the indie and alternative worlds while slaying the biggest EDM stages around, he is a dance music outlier in the vein of electronic music iconoclasts Porter Robinson, Madeon, and fellow Anjunabeats alumni Mat Zo.

His upcoming double album ‘Duality’ features star turns by the iconic singer Kaleena Zanders (who has collaborated with LP Giobbi, Loud Luxury, and Moon Boots), Danish pop maverick Asbjørn, Icelandic alt-pop outfit Vök (Yotto, Alex Metric), acclaimed Anjunadeep act OLAN, Alison May (who collaborated with Andrew Bayer and Seven Lions on ‘Returning To You’) and Run Rivers (who’s worked with everyone from DJ Shadow to Tinlicker).

One of many LGBTQ+ collaborators across the project, Danish singer/songwriter Asbjørn brings his unique pop sensibility to his latest single ‘American Boy’, singing about cross-continental love in uncertain times. “The nature of relationships within the music industry is fucked, cos it’s often built on these explosive and intense periods. Diving head first into each other and squeezing e-ve-ry-thing out of the moment, compensating for the time you know you will lose – to then literally not being awake at the same time,” says Asbjørn.

Two musical threads weave through the collected works of Andrew Bayer. One thread gave us the downtempo masterclass of 2013’s ‘If It Were You We’d Never Leave’ and the brilliant ‘In My Last Life’ LP. The other thread produced arena-sized anthems like 2014’s ‘Once Lydian’, his epic ‘Super Human’ with Asbjørn, and the club remix project ‘In My Next Life’.

‘Duality’ brings these two creative threads together under one album project for the first time. Bayer says “Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. I love making these experimental home-listening albums of electronica and indie sounds, but I also love DJing and making trance bangers. On my last album, I had to remix the album in full after it was released to make the worlds fit. This time around I wanted to capture all the breadth, depth, and tension within that duality under one single project”

Crafted over three years, ‘Duality’ features an eclectic cast of collaborators old and new. ‘Duality’ pt. 1 explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.

‘Duality’ pt. 1 lands on August 12, with pt. 2 following on October 28. Pre-order now via the Anjuna Music Store.
