After invading the bass space with their out-of-this-world ‘Ghost Planet’ EP in July, the galactic low-end experts return with a massive, record-breaking remix package.
Earlier this year, the enigmatic production pair known as ATLiens took orbit with their sophomore EP. The seven-track package showcased the interstellar, bassbin-shattering sound that the Atlanta-based duo has been chiseling into perfection over the years. Complex and packed with an extra helping of that extraterrestrial funk they’ve built a name on, the release was transmitted to the entire human race with a message: These planet-pleasing heads are on a mission to conquer multidimensional soundscapes, ranging from dubstep to future bass and trap to downtempo. The EP was a surreal experience, one that could easily be described as getting swooped up by a tractor beam to be taken aboard the ATLien mothership, which is fueled by brain-zapping sound design and alien-like tendencies.
A few months on, and the ‘Ghost Planet’ EP is now reentering the atmosphere in the shape of the official remix package. For the affair, ATLiens have recruited an insanely huge list of remixers—so large, in fact, that it is about to shatter the record for most remixes featured on an EP. And for that same reason, they have decided to split the release into two halves. The first one hits shelves this Friday, and offers up takes from Bro Safari, Bishu, OG Nixon, Jacknife, Lektrique and many more.
ATLiens are in the middle of their Ghost Planet Tour, which has seen them zipping from coast to coast, eventually leading into their end-of-year appearance at Insomniac’s Countdown NYE festival (a fitting alien invasion-themed party that couldn’t tie-in any more perfectly than it does). Next year, ATLiens are taking over Academy in Los Angeles for a special Spacecult showcase in February.
