Following the release of his second EP Chroma, Jack Ritchie aka Bearcubs reveals the music visual to accompany one of the tracks from the project, ‘So Long’. Secaina Hudson, who is the vocalist of the track, stars as the protagonist, and Jack himself plays a role in the storyline.
The visual coincides with the moody vocals and deep synths as we follow Jack and Secaina’s long-winding journey through the country lanes. The dark visuals reflect on the key theme of being alone, focusing solely on one character in a frame.
Jack’s love for horror is prevalent throughout the video. Drawing inspiration from Lynch’s ‘Mulholland Drive’ and the Coen Brother’s ‘Blood Simple’, much of the storyline is a mystery which leaves the viewer to build from their imagination.
Reminding you to always be cautious whilst driving down desolate lanes and who you are in the car with, the video plays on real fears and emotions. But Secaina knows she is okay, as Jack floats in and out of frame – she has already taken care of that.
