Indoor music events and nightclubs seem to be resuming in Berlin. The decision came following a court ruling to overturn laws imposing heavy restrictions on clubs and other venues, but only relates to those who have been vaccinated or have recently recovered from COVID-19.
Outdoor events have been allowed since June 18, but the bustling nightlife in the clubs of Berlin had to remain closed by law. But after the ruling, that is set to change soon for those who are vaccinated or who have recovered recently from Covid-19.
RBB further shared that for unvaccinated people – even if a negative test result is presented – the ban continues to apply because a test is only a snapshot.
The court argued that those tested had no increased protection against infection and severe courses and then potentially had a higher level of infectivity.
As reported by DJ Mag, the announcement that the pandemic rules were fair and sensible but “likely to be disproportionate” for those who have been vaccinated or recently recovered was made on Friday 20th August, effectively approving indoor parties for those who fall into either category.
While it is possible that with an appeal, the previous restrictions may be reimposed by the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg.
Earlier in August, six indoor venues in Berlin were part of a series of indoor test events for 2000 consenting PCR-tested attendees. Among the participating venues were Metropol, Kitkat, Crack Bellmer, and more.
Simultaneously, Arena nightclub also hosted its own set of parties in early August exclusively for the vaccinated, where the performing DJs, as well as the attendees, had been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
