BBC Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard presents the second of his curated Fire Beats EPs on his new label, Nothing Else Matters. The EP features 4 tracks selected by Danny, from a selection of up and coming and more established artists.

The first track comes courtesy of influential British duo Rhythm Masters, with ‘Dynamite’. The duo have been active as a highly respected DJ and production duo since the early 90s, and this new track bears all the hallmarks of their characteristic style; a jacking beat, a grooving bassline and a quirky melody. The release of their track on Nothing Else Matters is a great moment for the label; the duo have previously released on the likes of Tommy Boy, Narcotic, Junior, Edible and their own Dis-Functional Records, and have remixed for Todd Terry, Michael Jackson, David Morales and Junior Sanchez.

The second comes from up and coming duo, Tuff London. The pair have previously had their tracks supported by Carl Cox, Mark Knight and Riva Starr as well as by Danny himself. ‘Get Down’ is a laid-back groover with a hefty lower end and an effective chords-led breakdown.

MANT follow with ‘Bodywerk’, a thumping track with an instantly recognisable high pitched vocal sample. The Londoners have been rapidly gaining attention from all the right people of late, having been affiliated with Chase & Status’s label MTA and Kerri Chandler’s Madtech.

Rounding off the EP is Birmingham based producer and DJ The Golden Boy. The percussion-filled ‘Rubadub’ is a big track built for the kind of clubs he frequents as a DJ; fabric, The Rainbow Venues and Motion Bristol amongst others.

Tying together the best in UK talent, the second edition of the Fire Beats EP is a great representation of Danny’s desire to showcase the talented artists he discovers every day.
