Australian producer Sonny Fodera and Danny Howard team up on this two-track EP, Candy, which is out on Sonny’s own label Solotoko. It also features Gene Farris, as this colossal team-up of the house giants unfolds.
The first one, ‘Candy’ has an infectious use of vocals as the fast paced track tries to keep you on the move constantly. With a lot of raw sounds, a thumping drop and the vibe that hits you right in the face, this track has all the elements right to make it a club-banger. The synth work is very immersive and has been incredibly done.
‘Stand Up’ is an another track which gives you the old-school vibes for sure. The energy is subtle, yet infectious and doesn’t give you a single moment to rest your feet. The use of bass is continuous and catchy and is complimented by an unique sound that leads you into a masterfully crafted second-drop that just makes you smile instantly. Having come up through the ranks at a startling rate, Australian Sonny Fodera is now leading from the front.
Turning heads right from the off were his compilations on Deep Down and Defected, which found Sonny adding his remix flair to a bunch of classics, and after that came sophomore effort – After Parties & Aeroplanes.
2016 saw the already influential artist stepping up yet again, this time by making his brilliant entry into the hallowed Defected In the House series. His standout contribution is a terrific three disc affair that is jam packed with his own stellar originals and remixes as well as some brand new and exclusive material (including Sonny Fodera ft. Alex Mills – ‘Always Gonna Be,’ Sonny Fodera ft. Shannon Saunders ‘Over This’ and ‘The Definition’ amongst many others).
Sonny is a hugely in demand DJ who started 2016 with a 30 date tour of the UK, United States and Australia. It was his smooth technical skills in the booth that first won him the affections of Green Velvet, and nowadays he weaves his tight, seductive sets featuring all colours of the house spectrum everywhere from Footwork Toronto to Warung in Brazil, Cielo in New York City to Pacha, Sankeys, Amnesia DC10 and in Ibiza as well as We ARE FSTVL and many others.
Danny Howard needs no introduction. He is quite easily the champion of electronic music with an incredible following. Hosting the much acclaimed dance-show on Radio 1’s iconic Friday night line-up, producing unforgettable tracks. He has set his own mark in the industry and created a wave that very few can create.
The intense combination of these two into a catchy and fun-filled EP produces an unmatched flavour to modern music. It’s simply a treat of a kind.
