Pop superstar Doja Cat has unveiled the official video for her track ‘Woman’, out now.
It also comes with the unique ability for fans to code elements of the video themselves via Doja Code, making this the first video of its kind.
Featuring fellow musical icon Teyana Taylor, who stars as an intergalactic queen enlisting the help of Doja in a bid to save her kingdom from a band of male dissenters, the empowering, sci-fi-inspired official video for ‘Woman’ is a perfect visual encapsulation of the track’s captivating feminine energy. First featuring on her Gold-certified recent album Planet Her, ‘Woman’ has since racked up a whopping 436 million Spotify streams and counting.
It comes at the end of a life-affirming year for Doja, who has received no fewer than eight Grammy nominations. Released earlier this year, Planet Her received global critical acclaim and helped her become the most monthly streamed artist in the world on Spotify. All of the tracks on the LP entered the ‘Top 200’ on the platform in the UK, with lead single ‘Kiss Me More’ going platinum.
Starting out in 2013, the LA native began cultivating an organic online fanbase, posting her first track at just 16-years-old and eventually building a large following via her Soundcloud page. This digital fan-base helped Doja reach the masses, capturing the internet’s attention with every release.
Fast forward seven years and in 2020 she took home the ‘Best New Artist’ award at the MTV VMAs, the MTV EMAs and the AMAs (where she additionally won the ‘Best Female Soul/R&B Artist’ award). She has also been nominated for three Grammys, four American Music Awards, four MTV VMA Awards, two BET Awards and two People’s Choice Awards.
The eye-catching official video release for ‘Woman’ ensures Doja Cat signs off another memorable year in style.
