Each year on February 14th, whether coupled up or single, we’re urged to contemplate love- no matter how much we may resist. This Valentine’s Day, DOT and JNTHN Stein have come together to aid us in our exploration of the emotional unknown thanks to their new music video aptly titled “Modern Romance.”
A thoroughly contemporary window into love in the 21st century, “Modern Romance” is a raw interpretation of the many forms new-age relationships take. Appropriately filmed in the back of an Uber, the piece examines different relationships- from the most awe-inspiring, to the most gut-wrenching:
“The original concept for this video was brought to me by the directors, Molly Gale and Jancarlo Beck (aka Sleepy Puppies). I loved their idea of showing a wide range of modern relationships from the back seat of an Uber driving around in Los Angeles. The simplicity of the production allowed the subtle emotional dynamics of each couple to be the main focus of the video, and it was the perfect visual context for this song.” -DOT
Set to the tune of DOT and Stein’s 2016 release, “Modern Romance,” featured on Dot’s debut EP of the same name (stream here), “Modern Romance” is a hypnotic ballad that fuses the sonic stylings of both artists. Featuring DOT on vocals, “Modern Romance” combines both producers’ vision of a melodic masterpiece that is a fusion of electronic elements, organic instrumentation, and haunting lyrics.
