Following his latest electro house cut, “Orbit,” UK-born producer Ellis is back today with his impressive second single, “The Taste.”

Inspired by the psychological thriller, ‘Requiem For A Dream’, the track exudes an ominous vibe, crafted by synth motifs, pulsing beats and a polished instrumental sound design. Having played bass guitar in a band his whole life until transitioning to dance music in 2016, it’s clear those early structural elements shaped his knack for earworm melodies and hooks.

Ellis shares, “At the time of writing these records (“Orbit” and “The Taste”), I’d recently watched ‘Requiem for a Dream’. I don’t know why but that movie stuck with me for a few days. The whole image and idea of “The Taste” is based off the theme of that movie. The dark side of addiction, in any shape or form, whether it’s alcohol, bad habits, unhealthy eating, anything. It’s about being with someone or a friend that is dragging you down and you want to get out. Their addictions are drawing you in but you know it’s not good for you.”

Ellis’ club-friendly bops have earned him remixes for the likes of Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, and more. Most recently, he signed a 3-year publishing deal with Zedd’s Clarity Arrangement, to collaborate on electronic & pop productions. Zedd has notably worked with stars like Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, so we can expect to keep seeing Ellis’ name in the credits for major acts in the future.
