Evanescence is back with a bang, this time teaming up with alt-rock artist K.Flay on the fierce and fiery track Fight Like A Girl.
It’s the first end-title song featured in the upcoming John Wick universe spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas. The track is a full-force anthem that embodies the film’s themes of vengeance, survival, and raw female power.
Amy Lee and Halsey had already stirred things up with their earlier track Hand That Feeds, but Fight Like A Girl hits even harder. Co-written with Dylan Eiland (aka Le Castle Vania) and Ballerina film composer Tyler Bates, the song is packed with adrenaline and emotion, matching the energy of the movie’s intense action and deeply personal storyline.
According to a press release, the track is “fuelled by fierce energy and defiance,” and channels the same gritty resilience seen in Ballerina’s lead character, Eve Macarro, a young assassin in training under the Ruska Roma. The film takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, giving fans more of the same stylish violence and complex world-building they love.
Amy Lee couldn’t be more excited about the timing or the collaboration. “Tyler calling me up to create this song for Ballerina couldn’t have come at a more perfect time,” she said. “I know I’m not the only girl out there ready to dig my heels in and show the world what we’re made of. I really wanted this song to be a collab, and K.Flay is one of my favourite artists. It is literally a dream come true to do this together.”
K.Flay brought her usual unfiltered energy to the track, writing her verse while still buzzing with post-show adrenaline. “Amy sent me the demo and I was immediately so energised, so inspired,” she shared. “I was on tour at the time, and I wrote my verse backstage after a show. For me, the film and the song are both about how we channel our pain and how we choose to define ourselves. What separates the hero from the villain?”
Both Fight Like A Girl and Ballerina hit on June 6, and fans of both Evanescence and K.Flay are in for a high-powered, emotionally raw experience. Whether you’re here for the music, the movie, or both, this track is set to leave its mark.
Expect hard-hitting lyrics, haunting vocals, and a chorus that’s going to echo long after the credits roll.
