Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mom, Janice Combs, is facing a lawsuit over claims that she fraudulently took control of a 25% stake in Bad Boy Entertainment from co-founder Kirk Burrowes.
The lawsuit, filed on February 27, 2025, alleges that the stake was transferred under threats of violence from Diddy himself.
What’s in the Lawsuit?
Burrowes, who was a key player in the early success of Bad Boy Entertainment, claims he was coerced into signing away his shares in 1996. He also asserts that he only recently discovered Janice Combs’ role in the takeover and now has irrefutable evidence that she assumed control of his ownership stake in secrecy.
The lawsuit further accuses Combs of unjust enrichment and deceptive business practices, alleging that she and Diddy actively worked to exclude Burrowes from the company he helped build.
Burrowes’ Legal Battle
This is not the first legal dispute between Burrowes and Diddy. In 2003, Burrowes sued the music mogul for allegedly forcing him to sign over $25 million worth of assets while holding a baseball bat. That case was dismissed due to the statute of limitations, but Burrowes now hopes this lawsuit will restore his ownership in Bad Boy Entertainment and provide financial compensation.
Diddy and Janice Combs’ Response
Neither Diddy neither his mom, Janice Combs have commented on the allegations. However, in October 2024, Janice Combs defended her son against ongoing accusations of sexual assault and misconduct, stating that Diddy was being unfairly judged before having a chance to prove his innocence.
What’s Next?
Burrowes is demanding a full audit of Bad Boy Entertainment’s financial records, the return of his original stake, and monetary compensation. As the lawsuit unfolds, it could expose more details about Bad Boy Entertainment’s business practices and the alleged coercion tactics used behind closed doors.
