Grammy-nominated producer and live performer Ford. has dropped ‘The Color of Nothing’ (Reprise), a companion package for his 2020 sophomore album ‘The Color Of Nothing’, out May 18. Alongside the album comes the announcement of Ford’s Fall 2021 Headline tour across the US.

A nine-track package, ‘The Color of Nothing’ (Reprise) opens with the blissful ambient vibes of ‘thursday drive’, one of two brand-new tracks that feature, alongside ‘mid day [focus piece]’, another ambient creation that evokes the early sounds of Aphex Twin.

Elsewhere, the package features five remixes of tracks from ‘The Color of Nothing’, the first of which sees fellow Foreign Family Collective member obli deliver a refined dance edit of ‘Hold On’ featuring Ayelle. Next up, weird inside juxtaposes ambient with maximalism on his fluttering rework of ‘Fruit&Sun’, blnkspc_ injects some seductive sax into their remix of ‘Headspace’, fantompower remixes ‘Living Breathing’ and ‘imagiro’ reworks ‘4:38am’.

There are also two new stripped-back versions of tracks from the LP, with ‘In My Eyes’ delivering a lush, detail-oriented piano percussive piece. Things are then closed out with the stunning ‘Bedroom Reprise’ of ‘4:38am’, featuring Brooklyn-based artist Barrie, a sparse, acoustic take that further accentuates the track’s understated beauty.

Regarding the album, Ford. said “With this project I wanted to create an experience that could genuinely bring the listener further into the world of ‘The Color of Nothing.’ More often than not deluxe albums can feel a bit contrived.

When conceiving the Reprise I tried to constantly take a unique approach which ultimately led to me reworking some demos that didn’t make the album, stripping back some tracks from the album which I felt deserved a softer take, & reaching out to my friends who are artists for remixes. It’s my hope that this has led to a package which feels intimate and something listeners enjoy putting on front to back.”

Released in October of last year, ‘The Color of Nothing’ was an exquisite exploration into the world of melodic electronica, with the 21-year-old crafting rich, detailed soundscapes that united organic instrumentation with synthesised production in a way that felt both natural and effortless.

At just 21 years of age, ford. has caught the attention as one of the brightest crossover stars, with major streaming hits such as ‘Bedford Falls’, ‘Craving’ and ‘4:38am’. He has also remixed major acts including Bearson, Ashe and ODESZA – resulting in a colossal 55 million streams and over 1 million monthly listeners.

The producer extraordinaire has also been championed by major tastemakers including Billboard, Complex, Dancing Astronaut, UPROXX, FAULT and Acid Stag, received a 2020 Grammy nomination for his remix of Mild Minds’ ‘SWIM’, landed a coveted set at Coachella and embarked on in-demand tours with the likes of Madeon, Jai Wolf and Maribou State. Looking ahead, Ford. will perform The Color Of Nothing headline tour from September (full details below).

Ford.’s upcoming tour will see him sharing the stage with Elderbrook in Vancouver and Seattle, as well as a stop at Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. All dates and tickets can be found via Songkick here.

‘The Color of Nothing’ (Reprise) captures the beauty of Ford’s acclaimed second album.
