Having captivated Asian audiences this summer at We The Fest Jakarta and Sunny Side Up Bali, singer, songwriter and producer George Maple continues to command 2016, making her mark on the year in her trademark captivating, slowburn way. She now unveils new track ‘Lover’ which is accompanied by another startling, sumptuous visual, starring male supermodel Jordan Barrett.

‘Lover’ sees multi-talent George Maple take centre stage and the results are enrapturing; a somnambulant vocal gliding across a sensuous, smooth production which was headed up by Maple herself. The video is the perfect companion piece, directed by fashion photographer Darren McDonald and shot in an equestrian center in Sydney. It entirely captures the essence of the song, with Maple and Jordan Barrett in the throes of an all-consuming, forbidden love. In her own words:

“I wanted to capture the beauty in the primal obsession of love. Messy love. Destructive love. The dopamine effect. The power of loss or struggle and what it drives humans to do. I wanted to capture that feeling in a film, I wanted to feel the rage and confusion of complex love, or love you simply don’t want to have but can’t seem to get away from. It could be the wrong timing, or you could be involved with someone else, it could be forbidden love, they could be completely wrong for you but there’s a magnetism that drives you completely insane.”

2016 has already been packed with activity; alongside her own projects, DJ Snake re-worked early single ‘Talk Talk’ into the mega summer hit ‘Talk’ and Maple once again joined frequent collaborator What So Not to produce the single and incredibly shot video ‘Buried.’ Premiered via Pitchfork the track followed the pair’s 2015 monster hit ‘Gemini.’

Maple’s acclaimed debut EP, ‘Vacant Space’, arrived via esteemed Australian pop label Future Classic (Flume, Nick Murphy (Chet Faker)) in 2014, followed up with last year’s single ‘Where You End And I Begin’. Behind the scenes, Maple assists and writes for other artists and her writing and production credits include Hayden James, Snakehips, Flume and Tkay Maidza, totalling over 70 million Soundcloud plays across the board. As a live performer Maple has had world-wide acclaim and sold out shows in London, L.A and New York; January will see her return to Australia for the 2017 edition of FOMO Festival.
