Ginger by Riton and Kah-Lo has seen an immense response in the industry, and has received huge support from several radio shows. The track has been playlisted by Rinse FM and Kiss Fresh along with Annie Mac, Mistjam and Target on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. It has also has been played across Beats 1 and BBC 6 Music.
With the track having started to do well, Riton and Kah-Lo have now released the official video! The video has been directed by the much respected Sesan Ogunro from Nigeria, who has created videos for the likes of Wizkid, Snoop Dogg, D’banj.
The Nigerian director’s video features the peppy vocals being expressed through raw and up-beat choreography. Sesan has made the in the way we see it, after visiting South Africa.
Staying true to the creative and raw nature of his work, “A few months back I travelled around Johannesburg,” said Ogunro. “We went from the posh areas of Sandton down to the slums of Soweto. Throughout the journey I witnessed and experienced a mixture of cultures, people, textures, sounds and scenarios. Whilst in Soweto, I met these fun and peculiar set of guys that called themselves Skhothane – these were guys and girls that dressed very colourfully and had an equally vibrant lifestyle to boot.”
I saw how they live. I saw them dance and decided I need to showcase this in a video. The Ginger video seemed perfect and once I played them the song and put them in front of the camera everything came alive.”
The video truly showcases a colourful ambience, some amazing dance moves and upholds the nature of the talent of the people in it. It has been neatly done and makes you want to dance to it irrespective of what mood you’re in.
The duo who have a blend of amazing Nigerian vocals from Kah-Lo and the groovy work from Riton. Having started as a social media sensation, they have grown one step at a time and have made a clear mark for them on the global scene. Having been hugely supported for ‘Fake ID’ from notable platforms, they have also been nominated for the Grammys for Best Dance Record on ‘Rinse & Repeat’. They are all set to play at big festivals including the Pukkelpop, Reading & Leeds, as well as SW4. We surely believe they’re only going to grow multifold here on.
