HAAi’s career has been on the rise and the fact that she debuts on the revered BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, plunges her popularity into a whole new level. Her mix aired early last Saturday and also marked the last weekend of her Phonox residency which lasted for two years.
HAAi is increasingly well known for her eclectic mixes and sets, and she stays true to her unique style even on this more public platform. Those who caught her at her many festival appearances and club gigs this summer will recognise a few of the tracks, including some from her own ‘Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof’ EP, unreleased edits, music from the likes of Daniel Avery, Axel Bowman, The Black Madonna and Laurie Anderson, plus an inclusion of the legendary Mortal Kombat theme tune.
The Essential Mix marks a great 2018 for the artist, as it follows the incredible summer that she has had so far. Her international recognition is sky-rocketing, as her debut EP found much success. Played not only at Field Day, Lost Village and Parklife in the UK but also at Worldwide Festival in France, Melt Festival in Germany, Brunch in the City Barcelona, DGTL Amsterdam, Pacha Ibiza and Lux club in Lisbon, the EP has received much critical acclaim.
Now looking to team up with Jon Hopkins on his European tour, she will also be going on her first tour in her native land- Australia. Her music shows great percussive works, psychedelic sounds, and great techno bits which reflects her background. She also displays great insight in making this music that will take over any dance-floor in the world.
