Progressive house tastemakers Hasuman and Wynnwood alongside singer-songwriter Lumynesynth returned to Monstercat Silk today with their first collaborative single, “Calliope”.
The ambient ocean foley, soft keys, and atmospheric pads wash over listeners in waves of captivating harmonies. Lumynesynth’s angelic vocals draw listeners in, hypnotizing them with their emotional intensity.
Gentle yet driving in nature, “Calliope” calls on a classic love story that awakens us to be mindful of those who weigh us down in life.
Hausman shares, “‘Calliope’ is a song adapted from a set of lyrics I wrote many years ago. It follows the story of someone who has fallen into a blissful state of love. A literal interpretation suggests the classic story of a siren who uses their song to call sailors to their doom, but the song can also be applied to everyday life and relationships – sometimes you fall so deeply for someone that you don’t realize the ways in which it hurts you.”
Wynnwood adds, “It was a pleasure to work with Devon and Beth again through the process of making ‘Calliope’. I was excited to receive the initial melodic and vocal idea from them and work together to develop it into the final product. It carries a special underwater vibe and I am excited for everyone to hear it!”
Lumynesynth also comments, “‘Calliope’ is a dark yet soothing song about someone lost at sea following the calls of a siren. Fantasy aside, it’s a story that many of us can relate to. It’s easy to cling to someone/something that you care about, despite knowing that they’re toxic and dragging you down with them.”
