Today, Sydney’s triple-platinum tastemaker Hayden James releases his latest dose of euphoria in “Waiting For Nothing” feat. Yaeger, out via Future Classic.

The track is the latest installment of James’ collaborative releases from 2021, which has also seen him join forces with Crooked Colours on “Rather Be With You”, and a team-up with Nat Dunn and Gorgon City for “Foolproof”.

“Waiting for Nothing” is elevated by Yaeger’s impassioned lyricism that sifts through the floor-shaking production from James. Rising synths interweave through the pulse-racing house beat as he crafts a euphoric pop atmosphere, inviting the Swedish-born singer to effortlessly pour her cascading vocals throughout.

Hayden James says of the track, “This is such a special song for me – it’s got a huge energy and Yaeger brings incredible emotion in her performance. It’s about that feeling of not knowing if you’re in the right relationship, if you’re wasting your time with the wrong person, if you’re stuck in a loop. I think a lot of people will connect with this.”

James kicked off the year by releasing ‘Foolproof’, a huge collaboration created alongside acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Nat Dunn and UK dance duo Gorgon City. Released in March, the record has garnered Top 20 Dance placements worldwide.

The track went on to receive official remixes from German Super House duo Andhim and piano house authority LP Giobbi. ‘Foolproof’ was followed up by a dynamic collaborative single with Crooked Colours, “Rather Be With You,” and after receiving praise from fans as well as triple j, enlisted French producer Boston Bun for a club-ready remix. Collectively, the tracks accumulated over 12M streams collectively and furthered Hayden James’ status as a global tastemaker from the world’s most revered talents.

Born and raised in Vaxholm, Yaeger is the moniker of Hanna Jäger. An artist with effortless charisma shining through every husk and beat, Yaeger is alumnus of the acclaimed Rytmus music school alongside pop powerhouses such as Robyn and Tove Lo. Creating atmospheric alt-pop with influences from Stockholm’s hip streets, skate collectives, and crunching transatlantic R&B, Yaeger flips pop music on its head with an unflinching, scandi-cool vivaciousness.

The accompanying music video was directed by freelance director and creative director Ben Dean. With a host of awards under his belt including accolades from Cannes Film Festival, Guldägget, D&AD, and more, the Melbourne local has worked alongside major labels and brands for over a decade, including Converse, Sonos, YouTube, K-Swiss, Future Classic and more.

In Dean’s own words, “The song talks about a relationship stuck in a loop and it’s the perfect balance of love-hate that fuels it. It inspired in me the feeling of constantly going around in circles as you try and find your way with a loved one. So, I wanted to bring that feeling to life in the video by telling a story through a series of spinning techniques.”

Since its release in 2019, Hayden James’ ARIA nominated debut album Between Us sits at over half a billion collective streams, and was the the well-awaited gift for his legion of fans after six years of delivering high calibre platinum dance tracks.

Projects with Azteck for “Waves of Gold” as well as Icona Pop in “Right Time” saw James sweep up another 20 million streams, a premiere by Zane Lowe on Beats 1, an addition to triple j and support from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME and more. Since arriving on the scene with “Permission to Love” in 2013, and going on to release platinum certified hits like “Numb” and “Just Friends”, Hayden’s talent has continued to flourish as he becomes synonymous with confident and clever, cross-over indie and dance songs that resonate globally.

In the live arena, James has seen international success touring sold out shows across the world including NY’s Webster Hall, LA’s Fonda Theatre and Amsterdam’s Paradiso, while a live favorite in his Australia home, both through sold-out national touring and on the festival circuit. Most recently, he wrapped up a handful of North American tour dates with British house alumni Duke Dumont, and has more upcoming shows set back home in Australia.

Endlessly delivering the essential late night cuts to a global fanbase, check out Hayden James’ next success in “Waiting For Nothing” from November 5, 2021.
