Following a slew of remix singles from heavyweight D&B champions such as Camo & Krooked, Mefjus, and Pola & Bryson, High Contrast finally drops the highly-anticipated remix album celebrating the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough project ‘True Colours’.
Originally released on the esteemed Hospital Records in 2002, ‘True Colours’ catapulted High Contrast to instant D&B hero status and garnered massive critical acclaim. 20 years later, the master of Liquid D&B has brought together some of his favourite artists to deliver modern takes on classics such as Music Is Everything and Return of Forever that have already seen extensive support from the likes of Fred V on KISS Nights and Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1.
Since accidentally stumbling across a demo of Cubase as a teen, High Contrast has built a wildly successful career as one of the staples of underground dance music. His reputation for groundbreaking sampling techniques and sweltering jungle beats has landed him a diverse catalogue of credits remixing for the likes of Adele, the White Stripes, Missy Elliott, and Calvin Harris and even saw him writing music for the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony.
His last album Notes From The Underground (released December 2020), inspired by the early 90s Jungle boom, features the expert blend of eccentric underground samples and high-octane production mastery that has brought him so much acclaim.
Now blending classic 00s drum & bass and jungle tunes with modern innovations, High Contrast presents an artful project that appeals to ravers across generations. The album features a hefty mix of both rising next-gen DJs such as creative powerhouses, Marky, Winslow, Artificial Intelligence, Bop, Logistics, Samurai Breaks & Neve, Digital and rising star Flava D, whose buttery garage and R&B crossover sound has led to her remixing the likes of Disclosure, Aaliyah, and SWV.
High Contrast’s latest collaborative project is a colourful, energetic burst of life. The full spectrum of D&B is represented in tracks such as True Colours, which brings the Garagey flavour from Flava D, to Remember When, a darkly atmospheric bone-chiller deftly provided by Winslow, to the pure Jungle mayhem of Digital’s take on Amen Sister.
