DJ and Producer Hollt has just broadcasted his brand new live set from the Ferropolis open-air museum in Gräfenhainichen, Germany.
The Dutch Hollt, real name Jeffrey Frugte, rented the entire Melt Festival site to present his new music to his followers.
Ferropolis
The idea to broadcast a set from Ferropolis was born when Hollt finished his self-made controller, aptly named the ‘Holltesizer’ by his fans, for his graduation project at the conservatory in Haarlem, NL.
“The Ferropolis site has this grotesque, industrial and almost eerie feeling about it. Ever since I started doing my live act, I wanted to combine a visual aspect of music. This can be done with LED’s and visuals on a stage, or by picking the right location and environment”, says Hollt.
“Ferropolis was the perfect place to do this; you feel so tiny compared to these large machines, but it also gives you this sense of achievement as it shows humans can build things so much larger than themselves, which is what music can do as well”.
2019 Plans
2019 sees Hollt performing mainstages on festivals such a Mystic Garden Festival and Veerplas Festival in the Netherlands, touring India (Hyderabad, New Dehli, and Mumbai), and playing club shows at the Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto, Canada), de Marktkantine (Amsterdam, NL) and WesterUnie (Amsterdam, NL).
The launch of his imprint ‘die Stube Records’ in 2018 resulted in releases such as ‘Above Distance’, the ‘Reach Out EP’ and ‘Nothing Changed’.
“Since last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, things have kind of turned into this whirlwind. Suddenly you’re on this plane to India, making deadlines for distributing your own releases, and getting support on the main Apple Music pages; all because of your own music. I never imagined getting the chance to do all this when I started making music with some friends a few years back”
