The London based Aussie producer – Hopium, has delivered a live session of ‘Sunglasses’ which was released on Warner Bros Records, showing his versatility to the world! The self-made artist has given his all in this one.

Giving the track a new dimension by performing alongside a cellist, the session displays a more melancholic touch to ‘Sunglasses’, applying a rich and soothing down-tempo feel to the performance. A clever lyricist, ‘Sunglasses’ is inspired by the feeling of being vulnerable, of ‘wanting to find someone but being too scared to truly show yourself. He portrays the same as he says “I keep my sunglasses on So you can’t see inside my soul Although my senses are numb I still feel that you could save me Show me where I went wrong.

“Sunglasses,” a melodic production that was released early this year and it has received a lot of love! Showcasing Hopium’s creative ability, the visual for “Sunglasses” takes the viewer on a faded journey set in a neon-lit club with dreamy tropical aesthetics. “We made this video over four days in Melbourne – in a club, in the rainforest, and in the ocean,” Hopium explains. “I journey into my subconscious and eventually have to battle myself.”

They also want to up the way visuals are made for their live shows and when asked about their visuals, they said “(It’s gonna be) Epic. Visually it will be an extension of the aesthetic we’re building in the videos, a surreal fantasy, super experiential”.

Slingshotting his way into the public consciousness in 2014 with breakthrough hit ‘Dreamers’, the single was later sampled by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth in their smash ‘See You Again’. Hopium has since gone on to collaborate with the likes of Jia Lih and cites his key musical influences as  R&B, hip-hop, synth-pop and indietronica.

A multi-talented artist, Hopium has travelled through China, Amsterdam, London, New York and Los Angeles, before landing in Berlin where he lived for six months and pushed his productions to new levels with plans to build an immersive live show by the end of 2018. Working with esteemed producers such as Al Shux (Kendrick Lamar) and Snakehips, Hopium has an exciting catalogue of music ready to be released throughout the year.
