The Latin house maestro HUGEL connects with lauded singer-songwriters Lorna and Jenn Morel on their triple-pronged collab “Tamo Loco” for Insomniac Records.

As the house music scene continues to become consumed by the vibrant persuasions of Latin American culture, HUGEL has found himself at the pinnacle of the recent paradigm shift. Operating out of Portugal, the multi-platinum producer is a banner artist for the newfound craze, and his stake in the game is set to skyrocket as he plucks two unmistakable vocal talents for his sophomore single on Insomniac Records.

Joined by Panama sensation Lorna and Jenn Morel from the Dominican Republic, “Tamo Loco” is a party-starting number that bridges the gap between house music and the world’s leading genre, reggaeton. Sultry and exceedingly playful, the track finds all parties involved putting their best foot forward. Morel and Lorna trade places throughout the track’s fierce bounce to the finish line, with the former rapping in Spanish during the builds while the latter handles the hooks in the most inviting of ways. HUGEL delivers the goods on his end, propping up their enthusiastic musings with slick rhythms, spring-loaded basslines, and the sexiest sax fills heard from both sides of the hemisphere.

“I played this record on my American tour at every gig for an entire month,” says HUGEL. “People loved it; that’s why we wanted to sign it on a Stateside label. America is ready for this Latin house sound and Insomniac Records was the best choice in our opinion for this bad boy.”

The new single builds further momentum after HUGEL’s first-ever performance at EDC Las Vegas on the stereoBLOOM stage this past May, as well as his recent debut on Insomniac Records, which arrived in the form of his poignant creation “Pra Nao Dizer” alongside Italian producer Jude & Frank. It saw them rehashing a beloved Brazilian protest piece from the ‘60s and transforming it into a poetic tech house offering replete with classical guitar licks and the allegorical lyrics sung in its natural Portuguese tongue. He practically paved the way for the Latin house explosion after the global success of his smash hit “Morenita,” which drew endless support from tastemakers such as Vintage Culture, Diplo, John Summit, and FISHER, racking up more than 50 million streams in the process.

Jenn Morel is a chart-topping phenomenon that has been in the limelight, both from her international presence as a Dominican-American rapper, as well as a social media guru that has unlocked the code for viral content. She put herself on the map in 2018 with the release of her massive single “Pónteme,” which has amassed 15 million streams since it dropped and held its spot as the anchor to her self-titled debut album two years later. Around the same time as the lead single, she graced the Insomniac Records catalog by way of a feature of JSTJR’s beast of a single, “Tiguere.”

Based out of Panama City, Lorna is one of the most established names in the reggaeton scene from her home country. She originally found global success in 2003 with her breakout record “Papi Chulo…. Te Traigo El Mmmm,” whose timeless vocals found their way onto this new single.

With his new single “Tamo Loco,” HUGEL further solidifies himself as the forerunner of the Latin house movement, enlisting reggaeton royalty Lorna and Jenn Morel on a dance track that has all the right ingredients to make the dancefloor go crazy all summer long.

HUGEL, Lorna and Jenn Morel’s new single “Tamo Loco” is available on all platforms via Insomniac Records.
