Remixing The Chainsmokers’ ‘Somebody’, Tony Sixx has taken the next step in his progressing music career by releasing an officially endorsed remix.
The fact that world famous artists are taking note and supporting Tony’s work is the most obvious sign yet that he is growing in to a behemoth of the growing EDM sound. We chatted to the producer and DJ to learn more about the track and how it came about.
T.H.E – So Tony, what made you decide to remix this track?
Tony Sixx – Well, I’ve always been a fan of The Chainsmokers and I have wanted to do a remix for them. I heard the track and instantly had a melody in my head.
T.H.E – How did you feel when you spoke to Chainsmokers and got their seal of approval?
Tony Sixx – I was speechless. I didn’t really know if I was going to be able to get in contact with them due to the amount of people actually trying to contact them. I was really happy when I found out that they liked it.
T.H.E – Did the track start from a simple idea or did you have a more rounded idea of how you wanted it to sound?
Tony Sixx – The remix started with just a build up and a drop. I knew how I wanted the drop to sound and I knew that I wanted the BPM to change throughout the track. I wanted to constantly build up the energy and give it the “Tony Sixx” twist.
T.H.E – How long did it take to complete the track from start to finish?
Tony Sixx – It took about four days. I had finished it with the MP3 version of the track within 2-3 days but then changed it when I had access to the stems.
T.H.E – Do we have more music to look forward to from you?
Tony Sixx – Of course. I am very excited to be releasing some originals soon, as well as more remixes.
T.H.E – Was there a specific moment you knew the track was finished, or did it take a long time to complete?
Tony Sixx – Once I had my idea down completely I knew it was finished. I try not to overthink it and add too many other things, but to stick to my original idea.
T.H.E – Did your production style take the similar route with this track, or did you try something different?
Tony Sixx – For the most part, it was similar to my other tracks. The only difference was that in this remix I changed the BPM throughout the track. I didn’t want to be limited.
