DJ Q has unveiled his vibrant remix of Jacob Plant’s single ‘About You’.
The bass-filled production has already garnered support from Radio 1Xtra broadcaster DJ Target, who gave the remix its first spin on the airwaves.
Maintaining the soaring vocals of rising artist Maxine, DJ Q layers an electro synth-laden build up between futuristic bass-led chords, before launching into a typically explosive drop which echoes eras of peak garage bass lines.
Famed for his popular club hit ‘You Wot!’, which made the UK Top 50 after being signed to Ministry of Sound, DJ Q went on to produce various remixes for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal, Keri Hilson, and Katy B. His ‘Essential Garage’ show on Ministry of Sound radio was the subject of much acclaim, after a flurry of work with 1Xtra, where he produced several guest mixes for parent station, BBC Radio 1.
DJ Q’s rework follows the original of ‘About You’, which highlights Jacob Plant’s diverse production skills through its bubble-like synths and thumping rhythm. The release follows the success of last year’s dancefloor hit ‘Bike Engine’ featuring Stylo G, which has been nominated for ‘Video of the Year’ at this September’s AIM awards.
