JEANIE summons soul-snatching frequencies on her new ‘Devil Dance’ EP, a four-track dubstep ritual marking her debut EP with the Bassrush Records crew.

In 2020, the L.A-based producer embraced her inherent dark side on the ‘Sinner” EP, which happened to materialize just a hair shy of Halloween, a holiday she admits holds a special place in her heart.

While the multi-track follow-up effort may not conveniently align with All Hallows Eve this time around, it has by all measures manifested itself into a hair-raising continuation of the sinister saga for the one they call JEANIE. The ‘Devil Dance’ EP finds her conjuring up a collection of hauntingly gruesome dubstep tracks that are guaranteed to keep the dancefloor caught under her wicked spell.

The ceremony kicks off with “From My Grave,” setting the tone in a bewitchingly cinematic fashion. Producer and singer-songwriter TINYKVT lays claim to the only collaborative effort featured on the release, and she earns that bragging right through a powerful vocal delivery written in the posthumous perspective of a person patiently waiting to be brought back to life. Her eternal plea is met with ominous keys and nightmarish strings that succumb to the weight of an unholy oscillating synth lead.

JEANIE rolls up her sleeves and gets down to business on the obscenely devious cut, “Devil’s Work.” Pulse-pounding drumlines and grim melodies fit for a horror scene lurch from the shadows, at which point the horns proceed to protrude through the skin to show its true form. A cacophony of metallic percussion and guttural wubs carry out the beast’s bidding before the infernal wonk of the second drop proceeds to finish the job.

Without showing any sign of mercy, the package lurks into the psych ward for the aptly titled “Lunatic.” Insidious horn stabs and shrieking pads coagulate like blood over thrumming bottom-end, eventually giving way to a heinous riddim arrangement capable of knocking every screw loose until the mind turns to mush.

In case the damage wasn’t permanent enough, “Busted Brains” steps into the frame to seal the deal. The skull-crushing carnage wraps up the EP on a heavy note, with the hammering laser synths and sawing bass deadest on giving the walls a colorful coating of cerebral cortex.

“After almost a year of perfecting this project, I am so excited to finally be releasing the ‘Devil Dance’ EP,” says JEANIE. “The Bassrush team is always such a pleasure to work with, and I couldn’t think of a more perfect home for this release.”

Before her sophomore EP came to fruition, JEANIE left her mark on the Bassrush catalog through two remarkable appearances. She originally stormed her way onto last year’s ‘Prophecy’ compilation at the start of 2021, shaking up cranial fluid with her “Dome” track alongside southgate.

Less than a month later, she joined forces with the like-minded LEVEL UP on their collab “Hell Hole,” which has clawed its way to the top of the list as both of their most streamed tracks to date.

On top of the label cosign, she was already being championed by all the bass music gatekeepers, having caught the attention of Alison Wonderland, Excision, Liquid Stranger, and Zeds Dead, to name but a few. However, the respect being put on her name doesn’t end at her killer production prowess nor at her in-demand DJ sets.

She’s also building an incredible community as the founder of GRL GANG, a label and industry network aimed at lifting female-identifying individuals within the dance music space. Her platform shines a spotlight on some of the most awe-inspiring girl bosses at every conceivable touchpoint of the landscape so be sure to give the Gang a well-deserved follow.
