JNTHN

JNTHN STEIN’s debut EP ‘Changes’ is already enthralling listeners, walking the blurred line between electronic and live music with its unique fusion of live instrumentation and innovative production.

Perfectly in tune with the forward-thinking musicianship of their production group, his fellow Team Supreme members Mr. Carmack, Djemba Djemba, and Penthouse Penthouse have remixed a couple of the EP’s tracks into even more genre-defying versions.

Mr. Carmack’s remix of ‘Silvertown’ breaks JNTHN’s vocals up into distinct rhythmic segments, adding an ambient synth layer, along with a backbeat click that builds progressively. It gives way to an explosion of a trap-style groove, bringing into the foreground JNTHN’s searing electric guitar solo. Yet another unmissable remix by the masterful Mr. Carmack.

Grammy-nominated artist Djemba Djemba adds an extra dose of funk to the title track ‘Changes’, lacing a steady 4/4 beat, with JNTHN’s vocals being sped-up and pitched to perfection, sitting perfectly above the driving instrumental. The remix is a melting-pot of modified grooves, and immaculately timed rhythmic breaks. The third act sees the synth solo effortlessly glide over the mesmerizing groove, underlining the multi-platinum producer’s diversity and fluidity. Check out the track here:

Penthouse Penthouse’s remix also warps JNTHN’s vocal, creating a memorable melody over the underlying synth line, and bringing the bass guitar riff to life. The duo’s remix signs off with a piercing and powerful guitar solo that seems to croon over the futuristic disco bass line, and, as with the entire remix package, makes it impossible to pigeonhole the track into just one genre. With JNTHN STEIN continuing his journey as a solo artist emerging from Team Supreme, it’s clear that with these brilliant producers and friends by his side, 2017 holds a lot of promise for the Brooklyn-based artist. It’s easy to see that his talent is being recognised to a large degree, with his EP already garnering over half a million streams online. Definitely an artist to keep your eye (and ears) on.
