Prins Thomas presents his cosmic “diskomiks” reworking of Johannes Klingebiel’s ‘Flight’, released 7 November – the first track from the forthcoming Johnannes Klingebiel ‘For Now’ remix album out on 18 November including exciting new versions from Katerina, Benjamin Frohlich, Suricate, and Sekitova.

On the Prins Thomas “diskomiks” of ‘Flight’, Johannes Klingebiel said: “I’m so happy that one of my idols, the Prins himself, agreed to make a remix for my album. And hoo boy, did he deliver! Adding some groovy bass and synth layers he squeezed every ounce of funk out of the tune’s DNA, creating an amazing cosmic diskomiks out of it.”

The original mix of ‘For Now’ cleverly infuses techno, Krautrock, experimental, and electronic sounds. The vinyl is released next month alongside the ‘For Now’ digital remixes out on 18 November. ‘For Now’ has been described as “Floating Points meets James Holden” and Johannes Klingebiel describes the central theme of his ‘For Now’ album is the state of transition and provisional spaces.

On the remixes, Johannes Klingebiel said: “We sent out the album to some of my favourite producers out there (old and new) and I’m super excited about the diverse, eclectic and surprising replies we’ve received. Be it Suricata’s and Benjamin Fröhlich’s diametrically different, but complementing takes on ‘Break Something’, Katerina taking ‘Lost Day’ to a trance rave, Sekitova bringing the drum breaks out for ‘Alone’ or Prins Thomas delivering hard on his signature kosmische Disko sound for ‘Flight’, they make up kind of a rounded listening journey on their own as a group. Eventually this inspired me to come up with my own kind of inverted take on “Peace,” which is added here as well. Looking forward to bringing these versions to dance floors and hope you’re feeling them the same way I do!”.

Berlin-based Johannes Klingebiel has previously released on leading labels including Beats In Space, Mule Musiq, Mireia, Feines Tier or his own imprint Ancient Future Now, as well as touring the globe as a drummer in bands like his hard-to-define kraut-jazz-something band C.A.R.. His supporters include Gilles Peterson, James Holden, Gerd Janson, Tim Sweeney, Joe Goddard, Ame, Benjamin Froehlich, Barnt, Massimiliano Pagliara, Inigo Vontier, and Jimi Jules.
