With a career spanning over 15 years, Jubei is a name synonymous with delivering quality Drum & Bass music. After his first release on the legendary MC GQ’s Emcee Recordings in 2006, Jubei took his high-octane sounds to labels like Scientific Wax, Inneractive Music, and Coded Recordings, before calling Metalheadz Music his home in 2010.
Since signing exclusively to Metalheadz, Jubei has released a full-scale album ‘To Have & Have Not’ which included collaborations with label head honcho Goldie, the late Marcus Intalex, DRS, SP:MC, and Flowdan, while championing his deep and groovy style of productions with the likes of Dbridge, Optiv, Artificial Intelligence and more on labels like Critical Music, Exit Records, and Lenzman’s North Quarter.
After being an important cog in one of the most influential labels in Drum & Bass with Metalheadz, Jubei started his ‘Carbon Music’ imprint in early 2021. The label’s first release kicked off with the long awaited ‘Show Me’ by Jubei and Exit Records Boss Dbridge which was a mammoth success; and now for his second release on Carbon Music, Jubei is back with the three-track ‘Reform’ EP. Carrying his no-nonsense functional dancefloor music style, ‘Reform’ EP bares all the hallmarks of classic Jubei productions.
The EP starts with ‘Slipstream’ which is an immersive peak-time roller packed with swatches of rattling bass stabs and haunting atmospherics, while ‘Component’ along with Submotive who is now a solo artist after the disbandment of Ulterior Motive is a testament to the colossal technical prowess of each artist. To finish things off, Jubei has delivered ‘Running Scared’, an intense low-end roller with compact bass grooves that maintain the deep web of tension throughout the tune.
With the release of the ‘Reform’ EP, Jubei has delivered flawlessly on the promise of dishing out high-quality music from himself and his carefully chosen collaborators.
