Fire Flower

The collaboration of Loosid and Holly – Fire Flower, marks another spectacular release on Monstercat. An artistic piece that brings together a lot of different sounds is what the track is.

Subtly starting off with the melody that takes charge of the entire vibe of the song, the track begins in a manner that is quite unconventional. Leading up to the drop, which is of a slow-ish tempo, it leaves you in surprise as the grand amalgamation of music is displayed in a rather uncanny, but groovy manner. The latter half of the track is much more power-packed as the use of raw sounds get richer. We can surely say that the two have experimented a lot as to how this one must sound and we can safely say that you’ve not heard anything like this before.

Known by its phonetic spelling and otherworldly aesthetic, the visual art and music project known as /ˈlo͞osid/ first appeared in late 2014 with several rapid releases, including a dreamy remix of John Mayer’s cover of “Free Fallin’” which rapidly garnered much support and a substantial following. Since then, the futuristic project has remained cloaked in mystery while developing an unmistakable yet indefinable style that bends genres as much as it bends minds. There have been mutterings as to the finer details of this moniker; such as it being a trio of producing phenoms; but the immersive sound of /ˈlo͞osid/ makes the desire for more pragmatic information on the group fall to the wayside as the otherworldly music washes over listeners.

With flowing bass-heavy rhythms and warped percussions oozing vibes of musical surrealism, the project has been tapped to apply that style to The Chainsmokers’ “Roses”, Galantis’ “Gold Dust”, Dropout’s “Slowly”, and Don Diablo’s “Universe”. The single “I Want U” was picked up as the first release on Big Beat’s White Label in late 2015.

Miguel Oliveira aka “Holly” is a 23-year-old musician from Portugal. After only a few years in music, the young bass-artist had already toured the US, Australia, Europe, Asia and South Africa, with releases on some of the biggest independent labels including Buygore, Fool’s Gold Records, Dim Mak Records and Monstercat. Holly’s music quickly caught the attention from dance-music mainstays, with co-signs from The Chainsmokers, Jauz, Bassnectar, Borgore, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Martin Garrix and is considered by music platforms, like DJ Mag and Run The Trap as ‘one of the top producers of 2017’. Holly has also won the first A-Trak Goldie Awards Beat Battle.
