The Magician has unveiled his latest track, an ode to everlasting love featuring the French language vocals of Belgian rapper Hamza.

The new single, released on the 30th March, is a lilting, summery slice of dancehall-tinged RnB featuring steel drums and a soft, bouncing bassline; a natural stylistic continuation of the sounds of ‘Las Vegas’, The Magician’s most recent creative output. The track marked a slight change in musical direction for the Belgian producer, previously known for his bombastic pop hits with the likes of Lykke Li and Years & Years.

“I’ve been working in a lot of different studios, exploring different genres of music with some incredible people,” said The Magician. “The result of which has reignited my passion to make music, and inspired me to share more love and emotions through it.”

Part future-facing RnB, part classic French rap, Hamza hails from The Magician’s native Belgium. He’s been steadily increasing in popularity in the French music scene, with shows at Palais de Tokyo’s events space YoYo and a solo show at L’Olympia in Paris coming up. Speaking about his music, Pitchfork said “Hamza makes instantly memorable music that transcends language and communicates feeling.”

Having first experienced mainstream success with his European no.1 remix of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’ in 2012, The Magician’s 2013 track ‘Sunlight’ featuring the vocals of Olly Alexander from Years & Years, peaked at #7 in both the Belgian and UK charts, garnering over 55 million combined streams in the process. With Top 10 hit status achieved, The Magician has spent time cultivating his own live events and record label aptly named ‘POTION’ where new singles ‘Together’ and ‘Shy’ quickly followed, before his 2017 releases ‘Tied Up’ with Julian Perretta , and ‘Slow Motion’ with TCTS.

The Belgian DJ has played at a diverse range of clubs including Pacha, Space, Hï, Ushuaia and Amnesia in Ibiza. Since launching Potion, he’s brought the event series to Ministry of Sound, Showcase Paris, Exchange LA, Electric Brixton, New York’s Webster Hall and last year, hosted his very own Potion stage at Tomorrowland. The release of ‘Love Break’ follows a busy Miami Music Week for The Magician; he hosted a Potion showcase as well as playing at The Fool’s Gold Showcase and Klingande’s pool party.
