Normani is taking a moment to reflect, and hint at what’s next.
On June 14, the singer marked the one-year anniversary of her debut solo album Dopamine with a heartfelt Instagram Story and a promise: “the best is still yet to come.”
The Fifth Harmony alum dropped Dopamine in June 2024 after years of anticipation. The project was packed with collaborations, featuring artists like Cardi B, Gunna, James Blake, and Starrah, with additional contributions from R&B legends Brandy and Victoria Monét. It was more than just a debut, it was a deeply personal journey.
“HAPPY ONE YEAR DOPAMINE,” Normani wrote. “You were such a labor of love and carried me through some of the most challenging moments in my life. Thank you to everyone involved and most importantly my fans. I LOVE YOU and the best is still YET TO COME.”
It’s a message that’s resonating with fans who’ve stuck with her through the ups and downs, from label delays to personal struggles. Despite the wait, Dopamine landed with critical praise and solidified Normani as more than just a former girl group member, she’s a powerhouse in her own right.
But music isn’t the only big thing happening in Normani’s life. Back in March, her engagement to NFL wide receiver DK Metcalf went public. The 27-year-old athlete, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks, made the reveal during the 2025 NFL Draft.
In an Instagram video, DK gave a shoutout: “Shoutout to my beautiful fiancée for being here with me. Can’t wait to step onto the field with the rest of the Black and Gold Nation.” Alongside that, he shared two sweet snaps of the couple posing with a Steelers helmet, Normani’s engagement ring clearly on display.
During a press conference, DK encouraged her to “hold that rock up, baby,” showing off the sparkler as he shared the proposal story. “My family and her family was in Houston,” he said. “It was my sister’s spring break and I just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with a ring.”
The couple first confirmed their relationship on Instagram in July 2023. Later, Normani revealed on Apple Music that it was actually Ciara and Russell Wilson who played matchmaker. “We actually met through Ciara and Russ,” she said. “If you could trust a couple [to set you up], that would be the couple.”
From music milestones to major life changes, Normani is clearly just getting started. And if her latest message is anything to go by, fans can expect more powerful, personal, and possibly unexpected chapters ahead.
