A few days ago, ODESZA brightened up our day by announcing out of nowhere that they had finished an entire album with Golden Features.

And as expected this sparked a lot of anticipation and excitement.

With no sort of build-up or in the works updates, both acts directly dropped that their album was ready on social media.

They later that day also announced what the trio would come together as BRONSON. And the very next day on the socials of BRONSON, they went on to announce new music was on the way, and it sure was in the form of not just one, but two brand new singles.

Wasting no time, the first two singles “HEART ATTACK” and “VAULTS” by BRONSON from their upcoming album are here. BRONSON’s self-titled debut album is to release on July 17th via Ninja Tune and Odesza’s own Foreign Family Collective label.

As reported by Billboard, speaking about “VAULTS” the trio said “It was one of the earlier instrumentals we completed and it acted as a cornerstone to the overall sound design and aesthetic of the album. The track really proved a departure from each artist’s own respective styles and set a definitive change in direction for the Bronson project. We knew we had something special here and it served as a guiding light for the rest of the record.”

They also went on to say how the LP is intended to reflect, “their respective needs to challenge personal struggles, both internal and external. Moreover, the trio recognized that their own battles were merely microcosms of the surrounding world. The hope was to craft a body of work that was reflective of that duality of lightness and darkness inherent to the human condition.”

While both tracks are very different from either of the artists’ individual styles, both the tracks are also different in their own ways.

ODESZA had given us a sneak peek of “HEART ATTACK” by debuting it in the 12th edition of their NO.SLEEP Mix but little did we know this soulful vocal-driven piece was part of a new project! “VAULTS” on the other hand has a more industrial and grungy tone all while still holding true to ODESZA’s percussive brilliance and Golden features’ distinctive sounds.

This collaboration has apparently been long in the works, and was the music was about three years in the making. Odesza and Golden Features first bonded over their mutual admiration and eventually meet via FaceTime and swapped sound files on Dropbox. After countless virtual studio sessions, the BRONSON project took shape and the guys eventually met in person, spending a week together in a remote Australian coastal village south of Sydney to shape up the album.
