Olly Brown gave T.H.E Music Essentials a breakdown of the tracks which have influenced him over the years, which is available exclusively here. The ‘Dreamer’ EP is also out now.

Chase & Status – Take Me Away

One of my favourite artists and the first song of theirs I heard. The drop in this is phenomenal, with crisp drums and a beautiful vocal, I still play this on a regular basis.

Friction, JP Cooper – Dancing

It’s just one of those tunes that just gets you moving – the vocals spark lots of emotion and compliments the piano and brass instruments really well, a song I have listened to on repeat many times.

Netsky – Everybody Loves the Sunshine

A song that immediately makes me think of summer – leading into the build up it has a delightful piano melody and throughout the song Netsky includes plenty of variation with the vocal to keep it moving nicely – excellent tune!

Pola & Bryson – Dream Days

A tune that I think is produced beautifully – It has an excellent vocal that cuts through the mix nicely and also has some brilliant delay on it too. As well as an excellent dreamy pad, it has some great fx which keeps the track interesting.

Logistics – Together

I’m a massive fan of Hospital Records and this is one of the first tracks I heard on the label. I love the wobbly chords and the break used for this track, very distinctive to liquid drum and bass, awesome tune!

Danny Byrd – We Can Have It All (Sigma Remix)

The original is a banger and Sigma’s remix is as well. The piano chords leading into the build-up stand out for me. Again, a great release on Hospital Records which lead me to being fascinated by the genre.

High Contrast – Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

The vocal stands out for me here as High Contrast samples Julie London’s ‘Cry Me a River’ and with the crisp drums and wobble bass, it just works together so nicely.

Camelphat – Constellations

One of my favourite Deep House tracks which gives me goosebumps – with the emotional pads and cool fx throughout the track, this is definitely a tune that I take inspiration from. It has a nice clave with reverb which I like to use in my own tracks from time to time.

Solah – Everything is Possible

Solah’s vocals are just superb and alongside the jazzy sounding chords, this an ideal track to relax to. Another tune that reminds me of summer and is just all-round good vibes.

Hiraeth – Your Love

One of my favorite tunes of the last year, an amazing upbeat tune with some great sounding trumpets and a brilliant soulful vocal that leads into the drop nicely. Just a delight to listen to!
