Peppermint Heaven have come a long way from their first meeting in the summer of 2011. Having independently relocated from Chicago to LA, Juno and Spark first met to see if their musical visions would click. And it did much more than that.
Fast forward half a decade and the duo released their heavily anticipated debut album, Precious Things, to critical acclaim. Met with a flurry of 5* reviews, Juno and Spark were praised for the authentic 80s sound that is the through-line of the album, while lauded for achieving a retro sound that wasn’t dated. Relevant, contemporary and addictive were just a few of the words banded around.
With the demand for their 80s-influenced indie pop, replete with heavenly harmonies, Juno’s delicious keyboard hooks and Spark’s inventive bass ‘n’ beats high, the duo kick off 2017 with a collection of reworking’s from their 2016 release.
Teaming up with two of the UK’s most in-demand remixers in Lynx and Chords, Peppermint Heaven’s sound is reinvigorated for the dancefloor with a distinctive sound.
Ram Records’ newest recruit Chords makes a rare departure from the distinctive, dancefloor-ready drum and bass he’s become known for to expertly craft a four-to-the-floor disco flavour edit. The production standard though, remains untainted.
Lynx however, keeps it vintage with a rolling, sub-heavy remix of ‘Words Colliding’. His take on ‘Loneliness’ uses the original analogue synth sounds to ethereal effect on a half-time piece of soulful breakbeat.
This hypnotic EP is a clear demonstration of how the boys constantly reinvent to raise their game. Curating a release that touches on all corners of the electronic music spectrum.
