Ever the maverick.. One of Hospital Records’ most leftfield signings takes on an 80’s style piece of retro-pop from Chicago band Peppermint Heaven.
Portsmouth-born Lynx had his first release at the tender age of 17, back in 1996 with Southampton-based Hardcore pioneers, Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime. A career in music beckoned and he set about racking up many years of commercial studio experience plus a Masters degree in Audio Technology, learning his trade and developing the skills to take his sound further. Starting with work experience at Chichester based studio ‘Airtight’, Lynx worked alongside the likes of Friction, Mampi Swift, Stakka, Skynet, and Skinny where he demonstrated a hard-working attitude plus a natural aptitude at the controls and earned himself the position of co-managing the Studio.
Since emerging at the forefront of the drum & bass scene in 2007, Lynx has established a reputation for high quality productions with an innovative edge and DJ sets to match. Reinventing drum & bass from the ground up, Lynx’s funk-fuelled sets have gained a reputation for smashing stereotypes as well as dance floors and, like his productions, appeal to clubbers across the spectrum. Soul:r, Creative Source, Digital Soundboy, Ram Records and his own imprint Detail Recordings are just some of the leading labels he’s released on.
Since signing exclusively to Hospital in 2014, Lynx has now released a stunning debut LP entitled ‘I Am Lynx’.. The critical response was outstanding, suggesting the long-serving technician still has many studio tricks left. We hear this in abundance with his new remix of ‘Talk To Me’ – The remix begins with a classic power build that will be a frequent set-starter in the clubs over the coming months, we’re then treated to an unexpectedly tech influenced drop.. With a growling mid-range bass that will pull in love from the Calyx & Teebee faithful.
