Ryan Powell aka Gridlok without any doubt has been the biggest influence of Drum & Bass in the United States.

As one of America’s hardest working producers, Gridlok has charted an undisputed path into the vanguard of drum & bass. Since his start in 1999, he has released tracks with some of the most respected labels in Drum and Bass, including RAM, Shogun Audio, C.I.A., Violence Recordings, and Renegade Hardware.

Gridlok is now set to release ‘Z3R0 H0U2’, his fifth studio album and his first drum & bass album since Project Trendkill in 2013. The album will be released on Black Sun Empire’s Blackout imprint on May 26. ‘Z3R0 H0U2’ marks the start of a new chapter for the Californian artist who relocated to Amsterdam last year.

“When I originally came up with the title of the album I was thinking of the desperateness of my personal situation,” he explains. “But it quickly developed into a lot more layers. All over the planet things seem to be at critical mass right now. Drum & bass, politics, there’s a lot of weird things going on. The more I got used to the name the more layers I saw beyond me trying to do drum & bass in San Francisco. It’s zero hour in general,” says Gridlok.

‘Z3R0 H0U2’ is packed with some deadly solos and collaborations and we are bringing ‘Red Six’ featuring Mindscape, another heavyweight collaboration from the album.

The track is yet another example of Gridlok’s uncompromising and relentless style of drum & bass. Teaming up with the Hungarian bad man, Mindscape, ‘Red Six’ kicks off with a crisp intro yet gritty intro and then builds into a ferocious wall of neurofunk. Absolute monster.

All in all, the album exhibits a real purpose. Stay tuned for more!
