Following up a stream of underground sensations that fused a variety of styles from R&B and hip-hop to indie-pop and funk, Brooklyn producer, vocalist, songwriter, and DJ Richie Quake is returning with brand new single “Try.”

Get it here.

A somber R&B ballad underscored with a punchy and percussive rhythmic foundation, “Try” displays Quake’s penchant for slow burning lyrics and hypnotic tones that works as easily as a late night bedroom tune as it does in a sweltering club setting. Fader puts it best when they described the track as sounding like “…it was recorded in those moments of clarity as your inebriation peaks and the sun rises.”

“Try” is the final single of 2016 from Quake, following “Hesitate” a dance-pop track that found co-signs by everyone from Earmilk and Nylon, to Broad City music supervisor Matt FX. Past singles “Nighttime” and “Slow Down” won Quake critical acclaim from tastemakers including Vice, MTV, Nylon, Yahoo, and more. Possessing a unique artistic repertoire, Pigeons & Planes describes Quake’s style as “…a variety of modern sounds and production techniques, Quake crafts indie pop that seamlessly blends a variety of styles (hip-hop, experimental electronic music, alt R&B, traditional acoustic singer/songwriter music, fuzzed-out funk) into a set that feels immensely personal.”
