RIOT is bringing the ruckus yet again on another surefire single, “Louder,” which stands as the heavy-hitting duo’s third outing with NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s unstoppable stable, Gud Vibrations.
Tom Davidson and Daniel Magid are the masterminds behind the Israeli-born, LA-based two-man operation known as RIOT, the menacing duo notorious for inciting complete chaos within the bass music scene through a prolific and downright rebellious output. Disorderly conduct comes with the territory for the pair of progressive provocateurs, having established themselves as forerunners of a musical movement that aims to overthrow the status quo. They’ve been engraining Gud Vibrations with their mob mentality since they first stormed the catalog via their label debut in 2020 with “Herbivore.” The frenetic dubstep single saw them chewing through a personal revelation they underwent to consume more consciously, resulting in an epic dancefloor-devourer served with a healthy side of food for thought, if you will. A few months later, they made their next advance with an irresistible sophomore release, “Down With Your Love,” which coupled pop-infused sensibilities with acid-laced mayhem, and went on to rack up more than 1.2M streams on Spotify.
RIOT is now set to amplify their presence even further as they line up their latest assembly taking up the shape of “Louder.” The decisively upbeat track was written as a warm welcome to the return of mass gatherings, arriving at a pivotal point where music festivals are finally becoming a reality once more in the months to come.
“‘Louder’ is a record that we made to have fun,” says RIOT. “This past year has been brutal on us and other artists. To sit down and make a record targeted to be played at festivals and enjoyed at parties was a huge sense of relief for us—a strong way for us to connect with our fans again in the best way we know how.”
Powering the uplifting number is an earsplitting sonic boom of bombast, delivering a positive message that’s impossible to silence. The boys run the energy up to redlining levels, as they rip through an infectious mélange of optimistic vocal refrains and sparkly piano phrases scampering into trashing, lysergic-dipped riffs. Driving the sentiments home is a rowdy and raucous outburst of boisterous bottom-end acting as a rallying point once festival season is in full swing.
As nature continues to heal around the world, RIOT is slowly but surely starting to secure gigs at some of the most sought-after events around the world, including confirmed dates at this year’s Beyond Wonderland in SoCal and Tomorrowland. With more shows certain to be coming down the pipeline, “Louder” is a feel-good festival anthem that will inevitably have crowds shouting at the top of their lungs once RIOT unleashes this stunning showstopper onto the masses. Keep an eye out for newly announced gigs because you don’t want to miss this one in action.
