SLANDER is closing the loop on their wildly successful single “Back To U,” alongside William Black, with the release of the official remix package, which includes fresh takes from Matrix & Futurebound, Fairlane, Control Freak, Mazare and Topi.

For the better part of 2020, SLANDER has been tugging directly at the heartstrings of dance music fans worldwide with their sensational collab “Back To U,’ which saw them teaming up for the first-time ever with the melodic mastermind that is William Black. The pairing between the dance music titans and fellow SoCal native resulted in an instant anthem, one that immediately cemented itself as one of the most monumental records of the year.

Building upon their time-tested expertise at crafting melodic and vocal-led gems, the co-produced cut caused emotions to run higher than ever as the single surfaced right when the quarantine lockdowns left the population searching for any semblance of solace. The emotionally charged ballad was the calming comfort everyone needed at the time. The Gud Vibrations release evidently resonated deep, having gone on to amass upwards of 5M streams on Spotify and still climbing. Even though the record has yet to fully run its course, the smash hit is now getting the remix treatment with five reinvigorating takes coming in to give new meaning to the touching topline.

Coming in to set the bar impossibly high is the mighty UK duo Matrix & Futurebound. The drum & bass mainstays have a way of reshaping stunning vocal songs, and they elevate the offering by putting their galvanizing talents to the test. The lush melody lines and earworm of a hook are complemented completely by the liquid-steeped sensibilities they add to the equation. Vancouver’s Fairlane shifts gears to let the tempo fall in line with his plushy future bass approach, allowing the gentle guitar strums to ride shotgun to his staccato-driven drop. Control Freak asserts his dominance by pushing his own aggressive agenda, as the NYC-based producer flirts with danger via a decidedly darker tonality, shrilling synth licks, and thunderous drum programming.

The penultimate slot goes to Mazare, the Italian bass sensation that swooped in on remix duties to reimagine SLANDER’s “Potions,” featuring JT Roach, which dropped a few weeks prior to when “Back To U” originally came into existence. He’s on the case again, and his version gives the soaring melodies some extra breathing room, starting off with a sweeping future bass section before seamlessly transitioning into a silky-smooth drum & bass switch-up. Closing out the affair is an appearance from the dynamic label regular Topi, who previously demonstrated his versatility for the Gud Vibrations camp with “Optical” and “Verdict” earlier in the year. The Finnish artist finishes up the package with an oddball beat that’s sandwiched between two cinematic halves that speak volumes to his eclectic charm.

With such a solid spread of remixers on tap— each veering hard into their own unique vision for SLANDER and William Black’s heartfelt collab— the “Back To U” Remixes releases has something special to offer bass heads, no matter where your personal preference lies on the spectrum.
