Slippy’s Biography

The day Slips & Slurs first released on Monstercat was an exciting day for Alex Swartwout. Not only was he releasing a track with a label he had followed for years, but he was also graduating high school that very day in Yorkville, Illinois. Continuing his education by way of pursuing commercial music in college, Alex continues to simultaneously work on his short and long term goals in production. The main goal is to write something as a cohesive listening experience, whatever that may be.

Submitting to a demo box may be a bit daunting to some; especially to a label you’ve followed for a while. But when the music is good, it gets noticed. And that’s what happened with Slips & Slurs’ first submission to the Monstercat demo box. With over a million plays on the Monstercat YouTube channel, Slips & Slurs’ music continues to turn heads.

Sips & Slurs wants to involve you in his music. He creates heavy percussion-influenced music, and continues to hold a darker, more enigmatic vibe throughout his releases. The name Slips & Slurs comes from some mysterious lyrics from the band, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, “it’s been watching you, your slips & slurs and play on words.”

After building a strong presence in the dance music realm as Slips and Slurs, he made the transition into a new persona known as Slippy. This transition did not stop his fans from following. Needless to say, when the music is as great as his is, the fans will continue to experience the musical journey with you.

A typical Slippy track begins with chord progressions, and there will usually be one specific element that intrigues Alex to propel the track further. It’s got to click. His passion for film is something that keeps him inspired and creating. His favourite movie would have to be Interstellar, with its incredible score and visuals. We won’t be surprised if he’s scoring films himself one day.
