Slow Magic Releases His “Closer 2 U” EP

After the highly successful releases of lead singles “Somewhere” with Shallou featuring Woven In Hiatus, and “Closer 2 U” with Manila Killa, Slow Magic excitedly releases his Closer 2 U EP.

Closer 2 U debuted Wednesday, August 19 via Moving Castle.

An ode to the importance of connection, Slow Magic offers a moving 4-track work in his newest musical endeavor. Textural, synth-laden sounds set the stage in “Somewhere,” a track co-produced by Shallou featuring the lyrical genius of Woven In Hiatus. Beautifully moving words of encouragement from Woven In Hiatus sit peacefully atop Slow Magic and Shallou’s hypnotizing production. Teaming up with Moving Castle mainstay Manila Killa, the pair deliver a haunting “Closer 2 U,” ripe with burgeoning synth work and spectral vocals echoing the track name and EP namesake.

Fluttering sounds akin to the likes of the heart, “Heartbeat / Helicopter” reverberates with powerful oscillation. A driving tempo hits a chaotic groove towards the center of the track, as Slow Magic sonically bridges the gap between his 2011 back sound and his recent musical discoveries over the past months. Wrapping up the EP in the silver lining is “Wild,” a song echoing the feeling of a film end credits, as listeners soak in the formative experience. A blissful work chock full of classic and nuanced Slow Magic sound, Closer 2 U is a wondrous display of the producer at his best.
