Electronic music dynamo Softest Hard channels her childhood years on new single “My Boo,” featuring renowned songwriter Blush, on a euphoric pop and hard dance hybrid slated for release on HARD Recs.

Since debuting on the label nearly one year ago, the Vietnamese American producer has made a habit out of collaborating with a who’s who list of hit-makers. Her string of singles has felt closer to a red-carpet affair, including run-ins with Grammy-decorated artists Stacy Barthe, Kali Uchis and the iconoclastic T-Pain, chronologically.

Softest Hard is not finished flaunting her inner circle of chart-toppers, as she now pulls up with multi-platinum and Emmy Award-winning songwriter Blush (who holds writing credits for Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Meghan Trainor, Rick Ross, Macy Gray, and Kelly Rowland, to name a few).

“My Boo” finds the two talents reprising a ‘90s classic of the same name, which also became a viral phenomenon during the height of the Vine social media craze. Living up to the hype, their rendition beckons the listener to move and shake with the feral ferocity that has become synonymous with Softest Hard’s unique sound. A perfect modern-day floor-filler, this anthemic thumper brings the best of then and now all rolled up into one.

Drawing upon her formative influences, Softest Hard was brought up on a diverse range of sounds. “One of my biggest inspirations that got me to love music from the start was hearing and growing up to techno, house, electronic, and Eurodance music that my mother and aunties would play for me and my cousins as kids. ‘My Boo,’ released by Ghost Town DJs, was one of the classics I grew up loving, so I made it ‘Softest Hardstyle.’”

Having previously collaborated with the legendary T-Pain on their release “I’m Blue”, an interpolation of the enduring song from Eiffel 65, Softest Hard is continuing to rewrite some of the most iconic songs while transforming them into something completely her own.

Reviving another unforgettable record from the ‘90s, Blush makes the vocals feel effortlessly fun, while her pitched-up falsetto floats exquisitely over the rapid-fire piano keys, kinetic drums, frenetic melodic progressions, thundering kick, and an uplifting spirit that leans into the current sped-up influences flawlessly.

Softest Hard and Blush’s new track ticks all the boxes to be a run-away success, one that has a fighting chance to let the infamous running man dance trend translate to the new-age on TikTok.

Softest Hard’s new single “My Boo,” featuring Blush, is on all platforms via HARD Recs.
