Sonny – Since We’ve Begun

Following the huge support he received after his debut single ‘Princess’, 17-year-old soul singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sonny has now released his second track from his upcoming EP, titles “Since We’ve Begun” on Never Fade Records.

Co-written and produced by Rum and Bug, the song is a brilliant showcase for Sonny’s soulful, pitch-perfect vocals. The 17-year old effortlessly combines a mix of both modern and traditional styles in what culminates in a track that verges on R&B.

Speaking about the track, Sonny had this to say.

“Since We’ve Begun is one of my favourite tracks on my EP and was written very quickly which is always a good sign! The song is about the early stages of love – that feeling you get when you are thinking of someone all the time.”

Sonny’s debut single ‘Princess’ featured in Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist and immediately flew up the UK Spotify Viral Chart to #13 and #2 in Ireland. The track has since amassed over 114K streams in 2 weeks, over 861K views on Facebook and received support across various media outlets including the BBC.

Sonny’s obvious talent resulted in Gabrielle Aplin inviting him to join her on her recent UK tour, where he received hugely positive responses in Brighton, Bath and London.

Hailing from South Shields, Sonny’s clean-cut aesthetic and raw vocals were heavily influenced by his mother’s love for R&B and soul which stands out in his vocals. His father’s love for Country and Rock also stands out in the track wit it’s Bluesy nature.

Sonny got an early start and was already playing gigs at the tender age of 14, making a name for himself in Newcastle, performing anywhere from bars to pubs and open mic nights. Combined with his obvious talent, his early start shows its dividends in his obvious comfort on stage and behind the mic.

‘Since We’ve Begun’ is the second installment from Sonny’s anticipated EP ‘Hopeless Romance’, which is due to be released on March 24th.
