Styline is growing some serious attention towards his ever so prodigious Power House, kicking off 2017 with a dark but groovy original entitled – “The Call”.
The Call” is Styline’s re-imagination of the Vibe Residents track – “The DJ’s Calling.” A follow-up to iconic Power House track “Temptation,” released last year on Maskade, “The Call” again incorporates a seductive vocal from the late Dragonfly. A staple in Styline’s sets, the track goes off every time. In reinventing the track, he also introduced a new name.
“To me ‘The Call’ is a more fitting title because of the energy the track creates. It’s quite dark, seductive, and at times mesmerizing. It really carries this deep, electronic, underground vibe while still building up a great atmosphere.”
A challenge for Styline to perfect, the track always had a great atmosphere, but the synth pattern in the breakdown didn’t initially sound as fat as Styline wanted it.
“I didn’t want to lose the energy, but the new synth was a pain in the ass. We played around with it for a long time trying to make it sound evil and dark, yet booming. There were previous versions that sounded too thin, but now it has become a super nice progressive and dark track with a special vibe. The vocal complements the production perfectly.”
Styline recalls playing “The Call” at a massive indoor New Year’s Eve festival in China where it absolutely went off.
“It was kind of like a Chinese rave. This track really got them moving and caught people’s attention with the female vocal. They answered the call!”
