Swedish House Mafia Drop New IDs At Their Show in Stockholm

Music

Since their surprise reunion set during Ultra Music Festival 2018, Swedish House Mafia returned with a promise that this time it was for good. They have teased the industry and fans alike for over a year with promises of new music as well as tour dates which they painstakingly released one by one.

Their first reunion show kicked off in their Native country of Sweden, in Stockholm at the Tele2 Arena on May 2. The highly anticipated set saw 40,000 odd fans make their way to the show from around the world.

Among them, was also the #1 DJ in the world, and self-proclaimed fanboy of the supergroup, Martin Garrix. In an interview with Power Hit Radio, Garrix expressed his respect and deep appreciation for the group gushing and saying, “I’m a huge fan of the guys. Seeing the show, hearing all the songs, seeing them on stage together again — it was amazing.”

With world-class production levels and a packed out audience, the trio was sure to drop some promised new music and so they did. During their first show on their reunion tour, the trio dropped at least two fresh SHM ID’s and the internet is abuzz figuring out the artists on the tracks, the name, etc. While most full fan recordings of the show have been pulled off YouTube due to copyright infringement, here is one that will let you experience a fraction of the magic that the reunion set truly was, also placing the much talked about IDs.

Early into the set, the trio consisting of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello began to bring the nostalgia full swing by dropping classics like “Grey Hound”, “One” and “Save the World.” Accompanied with a good mix of new music and their individual works alike, mixed to perfection in their signature style.

As reported in a stellar review by Mixmag, a glimpse of the tour’s giant production value began to show when 3 circular lights lowered from the ceiling, each one beaming down on the individual DJs, visualising this perception that they have been sent from the above back down to earth to be re-born.

While the rumours of new music from the Swedes have been galore since the trio made their comeback and also got signed onto Columbia Records, but it wasn’t till earlier last week that we got a taste of it. Among all the ID’s, a particular one which the internet has supposedly christened “Underneath It All” seems to have caught the attention of many and promises to be what could be the new “Don’t You Worry Child” with its euphoric tones and lyric driven essence. Check it out here.

The Save The World Tour has only just begun and the boys have a list of upcoming dates including performances at Creamfields, Ultra Korea, and Ultra Europe. A full list of tour dates and venues can be found on their official website here.
