Emerging New York artist Synead’s critically acclaimed debut single “Tropicao” has caught the attention of taste-makers and power players from London’s BBC Radio 1 and Australia’s Purple Sneakers, to Tokyo dance troupe Dance Works and even Solange’s esteemed outlet Saint Heron. “Tropicao” has, quite literally, taken the world by storm since its release.

Cementing the single’s status as a “summer anthem,” the world of Tropicao is visited once again with the official music video, which takes us into Synead’s Tobagonian roots with a trip to Trindad during the annual holiday of Carnival. As Synead traverses the island nation, we get a glimpse of the breathtaking landscapes of Trinidad and an authentic insider’s view of the vibrant Carnival celebration.

Watch it now:

“At the beginning of last year I was in the midst of going through some personal stuff when Synead hit me up about the fact that she was thinking of heading back to Trinidad for Carnival. To be honest, the idea of escaping to warmer climates to make art we’d dreamed of was at the time the perfect remedy for my situation at home. I will never forget those 3 days on the ground driving around w Bjorn Nichols, Cid’s Trini cousin and our de-facto location scout. From the frenetic and hectic energy of Carnival to the calming vibe of Maracas Bay… what a journey.” – Matt FX
