Following on from the release of Home with OMSTRB and Dreamweaving alongside DjangoZa, Tasha Baxter drops the third photosonic track from her upcoming collaboration album, Full Moon Flex LP.
Now releasing its next single together with upcoming producer, Shadow Wanderer, ‘Slip Away’ is a floaty shoegaze dreampop track glittered with funky guitar riffs from Tasha and hypnotic vocals to perfectly demonstrate both Tasha’s vocability and Shadow Wanderer’s production skills.
Singer-songwriter Tasha Baxter exploded into the scene back in 2002 with the release of UK Top 40 single, In The Beginning with Ferry Corsten. Since then, she’s released an album produced by Noisia on EMI, collabed with Au5 on Monstercat, Feed Me on Mau5trap and written songs for Lil Wayne, Moore Kismet’s debut album and more. Yet despite her accolades being endless, Tasha’s altruistic values are what she is most proud of following an around-the-moon hiatus imposed by life itself.
Set for release during November’s full moon (19th November), the Full Moon Flex LP is Tasha’s pending album which came as a result of disconnection and isolation during the pandemic. Speaking about this she explained:
“The last year has been tough on us all, so I used my Discord community and Twitch channel to connect with musicians more than I ever had. What came from “feedback-streams” and “sample flip” challenges, was that we needed something to survive the lockdown. So, we gathered under the full moon once a month to create a photosonic time-capsule, where everyone shared a common desire to create songs of adventure, triumph, and struggle. This became Full Moon Flex.”
Similarly to the other featured artists on the album, Shadow Wanderer connected to Tasha on Discord and joined her Twitch sessions throughout the pandemic. Drawing on early underground hip hop, Shadow Wanderer is a free form bass artist from Las Vegas poised to deliver in his upcoming career. ‘Slip Away’ follows his recent release, Rain alongside STAR SEED, which received props from Dancing Astronaut.
Chatting about the collab Tasha said:
“Honestly working with Shadow is just how he described it, “It came together really smooth, like putting together a puzzle from Target” Both the vocal and the guitar bits I did on stream came super quickly. All 3 tunes he submitted for Full Moon Flex are incredible and I can’t wait to be part of his sonic adventure, and everyone else I’ve created with on this album. Slip Away really described my desire to get the hell out of my studio and into nature during the pandemic, I hope you find you can take a mental break while listening to it and make some new photosonic memories.”
