Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has unknowingly stepped into a storm of backlash from Taylor Swift’s devoted fanbase after his comments about Donald Trump attending the Super Bowl.
Swifties have taken to social media, calling for Swift to end her relationship with Kelce over what they see as a disappointing stance.
Kelce’s Controversial Comments
During a press conference on February 5, Kelce was asked about Trump’s attendance at the Super Bowl. His response was neutral: “It’s a great honor. No matter who the president is, having them at the biggest game of my life is pretty cool.”
For most, this would be an innocent comment. But for Swift’s fiercely loyal fanbase, it was a betrayal. Trump has been openly hostile toward Swift, even posting “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on his Truth Social platform.

Swifties wasted no time in expressing their outrage on social media. Some fans slammed Kelce for not taking a stand against Trump, with one writing: “Travis Kelce is an orange lover. No respect left for him. How can Swift stay with him?”
Another fan pointed out that in 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles refused to visit the White House due to Trump’s divisive politics. They added, “Considering Kelce has spoken about social justice, this is disappointing.”

With Swift expected to fly in for the Super Bowl, speculation is running wild about whether she will publicly address the controversy. Some fans believe Kelce should have denounced Trump the way Swift has in the past.
