Taylor Swift Now Owns Her First 6 Albums—And Fans Are Spiraling

Taylor Swift just dropped some massive news that’s got fans completely unhinged, she officially owns the master recordings of her first 6 albums.

Yup, that includes Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. In an emotional handwritten letter shared on her website, Taylor explained how this life-changing moment came to be, and let’s just say The Eras Tour played a huge part in it. After years of battling over her music rights with Scooter Braun, she finally got them back. And Swifties are losing it, in the best way possible.

The 35-year-old singer didn’t hold back. She took to X (formerly Twitter), teasing the big reveal with “You belong with me,” and told fans to check the letter on her site. Once there, it was pure emotion. “My mind is just a slideshow. A flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and prayed away for a chance to get to tell you this news,” she wrote. “I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that’s all in the past now.”

Taylor explained how she’s been randomly bursting into tears of joy ever since finding out the deal was done. And honestly, who wouldn’t? After two decades of fighting for the thing she created, she now owns it all. “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs to me,” she shared. That includes every song, video, album cover, concert film, and unreleased track she’s ever worked on. It’s her entire life’s work, back in her hands.

She also made it crystal clear who helped make this happen, her fans. In the letter, she thanked them for pushing her re-recorded albums, the Taylor’s Version editions, and for turning The Eras Tour into such a massive success. “To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty casual about it,” she admitted. “To my fans, you know how important this has been to me… I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to but never owned until now.”

But of course, the Swifties had one question on their minds: What about Reputation (Taylor’s Version)? Is it happening? Is it close? Is she dodging it? Taylor addressed that too, and it was refreshingly honest. “Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it,” she wrote. According to Taylor, the Reputation era was incredibly raw and emotionally loaded. She said she kept hitting a wall whenever she tried to remake it. “All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief.”

It’s the one album she thought might not benefit from being re-recorded. “Not the music, photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off,” she said. Still, she left a little hope dangling in the air, teasing that there are Vault tracks from the Reputation sessions that could be released down the line, if fans are into it. Taylor even hinted that another re-recorded album is already fully done, and she’s thrilled with how it sounds. So yeah, there’s more coming.

She added that any future re-recordings won’t come from a place of regret or frustration, but instead from celebration. “It will just be a celebration now,” she wrote. And honestly, that’s the vibe Swifties have been waiting for.

So Taylor Swift now fully owns her first six albums. The chapters that shaped her career and defined an entire era of pop culture are officially hers again. It’s not just a personal victory, it’s a music industry milestone. And whether Rep TV happens next or later, it’s clear Taylor is finally telling this story on her own terms.
