Avicii made a fortune with his career, cashing $28 million in 2014 alone.
He earned $250,000 a night when playing sold-out shows, according to GQ. After clearing all his debts, he still has a fortune of £20million which will now go to his parents, according to the legal documents revealed by his native, Sweden.
As the DJ was single at the time of his death, and he left no will, his mom and dad, Anki Liden and Klas Bergling, will inherit the fortune Avicii left behind. Avicii’s parents had released a statement after his death saying ‘He could go on no longer. He wanted to find peace.’
Despite making millions, Avicii did not care that much for money and fortune. In 2013 he said ‘I noticed straight away when I started making money, that I don’t need money.’ Now under the Swedish law, the money will automatically be gifted to his parents since he was unmarried with no kids of his own.
While Avicii was alive he was also known to donate his entire income from his U.S. tour to the hunger relief feeding charity Feeding America, followed by donating one million euros to a Swedish aid organization Radiohjälpen.
Even though he made great strides in a very short time, Avicii announced in 2016, that he will no longer be performing live as he suffered from stress and anxiety with the constant touring. But, you can now see Avicii’s untold story, in his documentary Avicii: True Stories which sheds light on his pressures, fears, his fight with anxiety and the predicament of his own death.
